Baai Alkebulan House is Australia's first African Library, Arts and History Museum. Alkebulan House, Based in Melbourne at 1/28 Pickett St. Footscray.
Baai Alkebulan is the dedicated home for learning about the history and culture of people of African and First Nations descent. From rare and important books to art, antiques, professional services and businesses, we want to educate ourselves and our children about our rich cultures and history to empower each other to navigate the future. Baai Alkebulan House inspires the youth to use the teachings of our ancestors to reach greater heights, unbound by the preconceived ideas
placed upon us.
We seek to create a new narrative for the future of our communities by learning about our past.

what we do

Alkebu-lan center is an African Heritage, Cultural, Education, and Business Centre initiative that will serve as a hub for promoting and celebrating the rich heritage, diverse cultures, educational opportunities, and business potential of the African diaspora, including Australian Africans. Such a multifaceted institution would play a crucial role in fostering cultural exchange, economic growth, and educational advancement within the community.

Heritage Preservation

The center will house exhibitions, artifacts, and interactive displays that showcase the history, traditions, and achievements of African cultures. This would provide an opportunity for Australian Africans and the broader community to learn about and appreciate their heritage.

Cultural Events and Performances

The center organises cultural events, festivals, and performances that feature music, dance, art, literature, fashion, and cuisine from various African countries. These events celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of African cultures, while also fostering cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.

Educational Programs

We also also offer a range of educational programs, including language classes, workshops, seminars, and lectures, aimed at promoting African history, languages, arts, and literature. We also collaborate with educational institutions to provide scholarships, mentorship programs, and internships for African diaspora students.

Business Development

Our center also serve as a platform for promoting business opportunities and entrepreneurship within the African diaspora community. We provide resources, networking events, and mentoring support to aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them establish and grow their businesses. Additionally, we facilitate trade and investment connections between Australia and African countries, fostering economic development.
